An ancient society that dates back to Scotland. The Regus manuscript has the earliest mention of freemasonry and dates back to 1450 (some say 1398) and earliest minutes of a lodge meeting dates from July 31, 1599: Lodge of Edinburgh No. 1 in Scotland.

Words tell you a lot about who we are as a society and not as an organisation. The difference is that anyone can join an organisation but not anyone can join a society.

A society of free and accepted masons where one needs to knock on its door seeking admission. Admission is not for everyone, it is for those who have a sincere desire to better themselves and work on building their inner temple. It is a journey of self discovery and by discovering the self, we transcend our own mediocrity and elevate ourselves and all around us to a higher state of existence.

Our rituals focus on two main principles;
freedom + building = freemasons.

Freedom in Freemasonry comes in two ways:
– Freedom OF:
religion, speech, assembly and association
– Freedom FROM:
ignorance, superstition, anything that enslaves the human mind

Without these freedoms, one can not build himself

If I am defined by race or religion or ethnicity or anything that I inherit, traditional constructs of community, I can never be truly free.

We talk about diffusing light and not projecting power. The light that we refer to is the light of knowledge which is what we use to learn about ourselves and the world we live in.
